Taken from the Port Clarence side of the River Tees, this is a common perspective of Teesside's most famous landmark.

Completed in 1911 at a cost of £68,000 (£5.3 million at today's values), the bridge carries a travelling 'car' or 'gondola' beneath its superstructure, as an Act of Parliament decreed that the bridge should not obstruct river navigation.
