THE GOLDEN SHOT

Alcatraz.

This is an image of one of the perimeter walls of the island prison, looking towards the town of Sausalito through the arched window.

I caught sight of the sailing boat making its way swiftly behind the wall and thought that maybe, just maybe, I could time things right if, in fact, it managed to line itself up nicely with the frame.

Having the camera set to single shot, and like Bernie the Bolt from the 70's TV series, I waited until the critical moment before pressing the shutter.

Fortunately, it came out just fine. The seagull simply added extra seaside context.
