Yorkshire Coast
VICTORIAN INGENUITY
Saltburn's cliff lift, comprising two cars working in opposite directions and powered by water used as a counterbalance, gives access from the top of the cliff to the pier.
Refurbished along with the pier in 1979 to reflect the Victorian heritage, the cars prove a popular tourist attraction when in operation during the summer months.
Location: Saltburn, Teesside, UK.
